On Wednesday, India’s cybersecurity watchdog released advisory notes highlighting moderate-to-high security flaws in Microsoft’s Edge, the desktop browser Edge, and Google’s Chrome OS.
This warning comes following another alert issued by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In). They found severe security flaws in the Google Chrome web browser and advised users to upgrade it.

It’s important to remember it is the case that Edge and Chrome OS are based on Chromium, Google’s open-source web browser and operating system (OS) software. A few days ago, CERT-In had flagged over 20 security flaws in the Google Chrome web browser and warned that they could threaten other browsers that run on Chromium like Edge or Brave.
The watchdog declares that Microsoft Edge runs on desktop operating systems like Windows, macOS, and Linux and mobile platforms like iOS and Android. It has 25 security weaknesses that a malicious attacker should exploit, which may allow them “to gain access to elevated rights on the targeted system.” In simple terms, hackers could gain access to the sensitive areas of your laptop without your knowledge of you.
The weaknesses that CERT-In declares have “medium” severity affect Microsoft Edge versions before 101.0.1210.32, the most recent desktop version.
According to CERT-In’s report, these issues resulted from bugs that include the improper implementation of specific types of code, insecure downloads, the incorrect performance of 3D rendering software, and other issues.
How do I make the update Microsoft Edge
1. Open the browser, then go to Settings and more.’
2. Choose ‘Help and Feedback’
3. Select ‘About Microsoft Edge,’ or enter this in the address bar, without the single quotes: ‘edge://settings/help.’
4. If the “About” page says Microsoft Edge is up to date, you’re in the clear.
5. If the upgrade is in the pipeline, choose ‘Download and Install.’
6. It will then download and install it the next moment Edge starts up.
Microsoft Edge also offers users the option to turn off automatic downloads. Visit Settings and more > About Microsoft Edge and turn on “Download to install automatic updates.
Vulnerabilities in Chrome OS
Chrome OS is open-source and free to use. It is utilized in Chromebook laptops that are targeted at students in schools.
In an additional advisory note, CERT-In has identified six “high” severity vulnerabilities that require immediate attention. The vulnerabilities were identified within Google Chrome OS version 96.0.4664.207 and earlier.
In the announcement, CERT-In said these vulnerabilities could be exploited to “allow an attacker to execute code on the target system.” This means that hackers can execute undeclared, often malicious, software within the computer, putting the system at risk.
How do I determine the Chrome operating system version as well as install
The most recent release for public use of Chrome OS, version 100.0.4896.133 released on the 29th of April. To find out which version of Chrome OS you’re running and update it, take these steps:
