Google YouTube, a Google subsidiary, released Wednesday’s Beta version of “Channel Memberships Gifting” to a select group of creators to increase their income.
Gift memberships have the same revenue split of 70/30 (Creator/YouTube), where revenue share is calculated after App Store Fees on iOS (if applicable).
A gift membership gives viewers access to 1 month of channel membership perks such as loyalty badges and custom emojis.
YouTube stated in a statement that it would be expanding the feature over the next few months to more creators.

YouTube “gifts” members of your channel with Memberships Gifting. They can purchase a set number (5, 10, 20, 20), and YouTube will “gift them out” to other viewers.
The company stated that viewers who are granted gift memberships don’t have to pay any fees and receive their usual revenue share.
Currently, gift memberships cannot be purchased on mobile during Beta.
Existing channel members can click the $ button beside the live chat to purchase gift memberships for live streams.
“Memberships gifting is not available for viewers to buy on desktop streams. YouTube stated that they are working to bring this feature to mobile.
During Beta, you can only opt-in by clicking Allow Gifts’ on the gift membership announcement. This will show in the live chat when someone purchases gift memberships.
YouTube’s gift subscriptions feature similar to Twitch’s. Users can buy gift subscriptions for a specific time.
